Part-Time College Student Jobs

Compass High School is looking for part-time college students. Applicants need 60+ credit hours or equivalent experience to assist teachers on a part-time basis. All majors are welcome to apply. We know the value of providing students with a variety of educational possibilities.

English Language Arts Teacher

Compass High School is seeking a passionate and student-centered ELA Teacher to join our instructional team. This position supports students in developing strong reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills through engaging curriculum and individualized instruction.

Position Overview
The ELA Teacher will deliver standards-aligned instruction; foster a supportive classroom environment; and help students build the literacy skills needed for success in high school, college, and career pathways. Ideal candidates are collaborative, organized, and committed to meeting students where they are.

Responsibilities

  • Teach English Language Arts courses aligned to Arizona state standards;
  • Plan and implement engaging lessons with a focus on reading comprehension; literary analysis; academic writing; and vocabulary development;
  • Support varied learners through accommodations; scaffolding; and differentiated instruction;
  • Incorporate project-based learning and Compass’s mastery-based approaches;
  • Maintain accurate grades; attendance; and progress monitoring;
  • Build positive relationships with students; colleagues; and families;
  • Collaborate with the ELA team and administration to support student success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree;
  • Strong communication and classroom management;
  • Commitment to building an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Preferred

  • Experience teaching high school English;
  • Experience with mastery-based or project-based learning models;
  • Background in creative writing; literature; journalism; or related fields.

Mathematics Teacher (Geometry and Algebra II)

Compass High School is seeking a skilled and student-centered Geometry and Algebra II teacher; someone who can build strong relationships; support mastery-based learning; and help students grow their confidence in mathematics. Our school serves a diverse population of learners who benefit from hands-on instruction, clear expectations, structured routines, and compassionate guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Geometry and Algebra II using engaging lessons aligned with state standards
  • Support students through mastery-based learning; competency checks; targeted reteaching
  • Implement structured routines that build academic confidence and consistent progress
  • Track student learning
  • Collaborate with the math team and administration to ensure strong student outcomes
  • Maintain communication with families; counselors; and the administrative team
  • Participate in professional development and contribute to schoolwide initiatives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; math degree or related field preferred
  • Arizona Teaching Certificate or ability to obtain certification
  • Experience teaching high school math preferred
  • Strong classroom management skills; ability to support students with diverse needs
