Welding
This class introduces students to common procedures used in various industries with a focus on Shielded Metal Arc Welding (Stick), Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG), Flux-Cored Arc Welding, and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG). Students will learn OSHA standards for safety while operating welding equipment and the various tools found on job sites around the country. They will learn how to safely use acetylene cutting, welding, and heating torches as well as standard practices for handling compressed gas cylinders. Students will learn about the American Welding Society standards for proper welding techniques according to AWS D1.1. In this class, you’ll burn metals together with lightning to build cool and useful things.
Course may count as elective credits OR may fulfill Eng. 11, Eng.12, Economics, Algebra 2 or 4th year math.
