Contactless Drive-In Graduation Ceremony Guidelines

Compass High School Class Of 2020

We are thrilled to celebrate this momentous achievement with our Compass High School 2020 Graduates! CHS staff, teachers, families and friends are so proud of our graduates’ hard work and dedication during this unprecedented time of uncertainty.  In order to properly honor our students, it is important that we follow all social distancing guidelines to maintain the health and safety of everyone in attendance.

**Graduates and guests must remain in their vehicles at all times during the graduation ceremony.**

How Compass High School Plans To Mitigate The Spread of COVID-19 Using Current Recommendations From The CDC & Pima County Health Department:

  • Ceremony will not be longer than 90 minutes.
  • Compass High School Staff, Security and Fairground Staff will wear masks, gloves and protective glasses during the commencement.
  • It is recommended that all guests wear masks while attending the ceremony in your car.
  • Guests will remain in their vehicles before, during and after the ceremony.
  • Graduates will remain in their vehicles until their group has been called to the graduation procession.
  • Graduates must wear face masks while outside of their vehicle.
  • Graduates must return to their vehicle once they receive their diploma.
  • Graduates will be spaced a minimum of 6 feet apart and monitored by staff during the procession in order to receive their diploma.
  • Hand sanitizer will be provided to graduates and staff approaching the podium, at the podium and exiting the stage during commencement.
  • Emergency bathroom access will be limited and monitored by staff to ensure social distancing.
  • Guests that do not follow safety guidelines will be asked to vacate the Fairgrounds by security.

Graduation Procession & Contactless Drive-in Graduation Ceremony

A Contactless Drive-In Graduation Ceremony is different from anything we have traditionally done to celebrate our students.  Please review the following information to ensure the safety of everyone in attendance:

  • Graduates will arrive at 7 pm using the Brekke entrance and directed to their designated parking spot.  All guests will enter through the Green Gate Entrance.
  • The Fairgrounds limits the number of cars that can be accommodated.  Each graduate will receive 3 tickets (one ticket per vehicle). Tickets will be included in your Class of 2020 Gator Box.
  • Once the ceremony begins, all graduates will drive into the Fairgrounds for the processional.
  • Once parked, graduates must stay in their vehicles until they are prompted by Compass High School staff to join the commencement staging area.
  • Graduates will follow social distancing guidelines while in the staging area and diplomas will be placed on a table onstage for pick up once their name has been called.
  • Graduates must wear face masks while outside of their vehicle.
  • The ceremony is expected to run approximately 90 minutes with a combination of live and recorded speeches.
  • All guests will be directed to the designated parking area.
  • In order to enjoy commencement from your vehicles, the ceremony will be projected onto a 40’ x 23’ screen to view the stage and will broadcast audio over the loudspeakers.
  • Guests are not permitted to leave their vehicles before, during or after the ceremony.
  • We encourage you to celebrate your graduates after the ceremony is over; however, all graduates and guests must leave the Fairgrounds immediately after the conclusion of the ceremony.
  • A graduation program will be provided on the day of the event by placing it on your windshield.
  • All graduates and guests must follow all applicable state and federal law while attending the ceremony.

Celebrate Your Graduate!

  • Compass High School encourages graduates, friends and families to decorate their cars to celebrate the Class of 2020.
    • Graduates will receive a custom Class of 2020 Gator Box that will include items to help decorate vehicles.
    • Decorations must be school appropriate and follow CHS Student Handbook guidelines.
    • Graduates, families and friends will not be permitted to decorate vehicles on-site.

Parking Guidelines

  • On-site parking attendants will be directing all guests to the designated parking and viewing area. Guests will not be allowed to park outside of these designated areas.  We thank you in advance for your cooperation and following the instructions provided by our attendants.

Emergency Bathrooms

  • Please make sure to use the bathroom before leaving your home.
  • If you must use the bathroom facilities during the ceremony, please do so while adhering to all recommended CDC social distancing guidelines, including the use of a mask while outside of your vehicle.
  • Please follow all directions provided by on-site security and Fairground attendants.

Photography
